WHAT YOU
CAN DO TO HELP GREYHOUNDS
There are many things you can do to help with the rescue and
adoption effort for retired racing greyhounds!
BEDDING: Garage & Yard sale items are very welcome, so please keep us in mind during "spring cleaning". Especially old comforters, towels and blankets.
CRAFTS: Are you a "crafty" person? We need help with making dog blankets, coats, belly bands and flat cats. It is very expensive supplying these items in multiples. If you sew, or know of someone who sews, we will be glad to reimburse the cost of the materials if they will donate their time and craftsmanship.
DRIVERS: To pick up or transport dogs to and from various locations including meet & greets, Kennels or the farms.
FOSTER HOMES: Helping greyhounds help get acclimated to our world is an important job. GEM has limited space to house these dogs and there are many more at the farms and tracks that need to be picked up. Foster homes play a vital role in the success of our placements and the well being of the dogs during their transition from a working dog to a pet.
FUND RAISING: We need funds for supplies, fencing, or product(s) that may be used for improving our facilities. Items may be donated for auction, raffles or sale at various events we hold throughout the year.
MONETARY GIFTS: There are numerous expenses (food, hauling, vetting, etc.) that are not covered by our adoption fees. If you would like to donate to GEM, click here.
PUBLIC RELATIONS: We need people to help get the word out about retired racing greyhounds! This could be flyers, (we will provide), at animal related businesses; information distributed to schools; website links; news coverage; letters to the editors of local newspapers, (especially if you are a greyhound adopter); any other ways you can think of to educate the public about the need to place these wonderful pets into adoptive homes.
NEWSLETTER: If you would like to share a story about your greyhounds, please contact Steve, he would love to add it to our news letter.
VOLUNTEERS: We need your help with meet & greets and various other fun activities. If you are interested in participating, check our calendar of events for dates & times.
WEBSITE: If you would like to place a link to our site, please contact Susan. We would especially appreciate personal stories from greyhound adopters! People who may be considering adoption want to hear from people who have already adopted.
