And this year we are celebrating with the theme “Christmas in July!”  Come join us in air-conditioned (free WIFI) comfort for a weekend of greyhounds, shopping, food and fun.

This is just a sleigh ride down the road from Frankenmuth, MI where it is Christmas all year long.  The Expo Center is also right across the street from The Birch Run Outlet stores.  Shop ‘til you Drop!  On Friday evening, we will have some vendors setting up early to participate in a special holiday themed, “Black Dog Friday” shopping event!  See the preview of our agenda below, with more details to be added as we approach the event.
 

Friday, July 14, 2017:  
3:00 pm Event begins – Registration opens!
3:00 pm – 7:00 pm Vendors open – ‘Black Dog Friday’ special early shopping event.  Vendor advertising will be coming soon so that you will know which you can plan to buy from.
4:00 pm Seminar – The Greyhound Inmate Experience – Presented by Gaye Ann and Ron Weaver
7:00 pm Steve Wirtz – Greyhound Art Workshop ($40 per person – spaces go fast so make sure to register for this through the Event registration early)
9:00 pm Event ends for the night – get those hounds some rest for the next day!
Saturday, July 15, 2017:  
9:00 am Registration opens!  We will have a blessing of the hounds, nail trimming, foster dogs on parade, a special holiday bake sale, fun raffles, silent auctions, and many more surprises on the agenda throughout the day!  Keep an eye on this Event website for updates and more details approaching the event.
9:00 am – 4:00 pm Vendors open for business
9:30 am Workshop – Informative specialty speaker – details coming soon
11:00 am Workshop – Alternative approach to healing hounds – details coming soon
Lunch - Lunch and drink items available for purchase on-site throughout the day
1:00 pm Workshop – “Santa’s Little Helper’s Journey Home – A Retired Racer’s Trip From Track to Your Couch,”  Presentation by Jim and Cheryel Simmons
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Silent auctions will end at specific staggered times
Evening - Dinner with Keynote Speaker, followed by SWA Tickets Grand Prize Drawing, Centerpiece Raffle, Live Auction and Event Close
Dinner will be served buffet style by an award-winning caterer who specializes in BBQ and southern style fare ($25 per person – pre-register on through Event registration).  An open cash bar will be available for adult beverage purchases.  Hounds are welcome as always for dinner and our evening activities.  A variety of choices will be available to meet most anyone’s dietary needs.
Featured Dinner Keynote Speaker – Marie Hopfensperger, DVMDr. Hopfensperger runs the Behavior Service at Michigan State University.  She graduated with honors from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced in a small animal veterinary hospital in northern Michigan before returning to academia to pursue her passion for behavior.  Dr. Hopfensperger spent the first half of her residency at North Carolina State University and is has completed of her specialty training here at Michigan State.  Dr. Hopfensperger’s clinical and research area of interest is behavioral pharmacology, including sedation protocols to promote safe and humane handling of anxious and/or aggressive companion animal patients.
Please note – the Live Auction will begin after dinner and the Keynote Speaker, and there is not any charge to attend the live auction.
