Tappix Nix

Tappix is my heart dog, and the beginning of my journey with greyhounds.  He has led me to meet many wonderful friends within the greyhound community.  He's a star meet & greet dog, enthusiastically greeting everyone with a wag and hugs. Through him I began learning more about greyhounds, began volunteering and eventually banded together with some of those friends to form this group GreytHounds of Eastern MI.  Every time things get tough, or it seems like too much work all I have to do is look at him and remember, someone cared enough to do this for him or I wouldn't have him in my life now and that is all it takes to keep going.  Greyhounds are magical, there is no other way to describe how they touch your heart.  Once you have shared your life with one, you are changed forever.

Zane Nix

I met Zane on my birthday in 2000 while visiting the Taylor farm in Abilene, Kansas. Zane Grey was the name of my grandfather's favorite author, so when I saw a crate with that name on it I had to introduce myself. <g> Zane raced briefly at Camptown in Kansas, until it closed and then he moved over to the Woodlands track in Kansas City where he achieved grade C for a time. He's been struggling with a nagging shoulder injury and John decided it was time for him to retire at the ripe old age of 3 yrs old. The photo at top was taken while visiting the Taylor farm this summer when I was in Kansas for the Abilene Gathering. The Next two are here in MI at my home.

UPDATE: Zane is going to make an excellent meet & greet dog!! He was just awesome at the Renissance Festival this weekend, even marched in the parade and greeted everyone he met with a nice lean and kisses. I hope to see both my boys inspire many more people to adopt a greyhound.
